Prepare yourself - this will be long....

So for over a year now I have been writing down things I LOVE about my Mom in my journal so I never forget the great memories I had as a child and how great of a mom she is. I always mean to tell her how much I love and appreciate her. Then I got thinking she probably would like this as much as I do as I read over these things. So what better time to blog about her than 5:30 in the morning because I can't seem to get comfortable enough to fall asleep.

Every single day I think to myself how did she do it. She was and still is a wonder mom. I want to do just as she did. I am now mom to Avrie a six year old independent, sweet, strong willed, terribly fashion sensed little girl. How did she have so much patience to have 3 girls??? Never did she scream except one time - she about hit me with my own shoe - I am sure I deserved it, always there to listen, worked hard, but I never felt you were away, if anything was wrong you were right there, you were such a hands on mom, you were the one to dare go on the roller coaster before us, we always had a vegetable with every meal meal, heck we always had a meal, you always made each one of us sisters feel that we were perfectly unique in our own way, you always encouraged us to do whatever we wanted. Why oh why did you not pass on these wonderful traits to me???

Here is a list of little things I cherish:

your nostrils, ha ha I know weird but when you would hold me or read to me I always felt so safe looking up knowing you were MY mom and because you knew everything there was to know about everything
your smell (exclamation, victoria secret - Heavenly, almond lotion)
your perfect teeth and that you are always positive and smiling
your cooking - yeah I didn't get this from you either
how you would put curlers in your hair before you would go to work and brush your hair with your purple comb
How you taught us to be hard workers and that working is a good thing
Somehow your intermountain fastner pens and jolly ranchers/tootsie rolls in your truck always made my day
Our super fun Grandma runs singing for hours and then begging you to take off our seat belts to lay down comfortably in the back seat, but you wanted us safe and would let us
How you fold your towels, you always had the best laundry soap
How you would glue and paint your fake nails burgundy on the coffee table on Sunday evenings
Whenever we got sick you would take us for a Wendy's frosty and before doctors appointments you would take me to get a McDonalds breakfast burrito
I loved when you sing out loud to Debbie Gibson in the car
How we had to try clothes on just to humor you and would every once in a while agree with you
You were always keeping us busy and taking us to fun places
KFC up the mountains and letting us ruin our pants when we slid down the mountain
You always had your car and house clean. And you have a spot for everything.
You let me "rearrange" and help you just like Avrie does and you didn't ever let me know how crazy it made you
Attempting to teach us to play tennis
letting me have tent sleepovers even though it would ruin your perfect lawn
Whenever something sad or happy you are who I think to call first
Late night talks just me and you because my sisters fell asleep like 6 hours before us
I love your skinny chicken legs and the color and freckles on your skin
Daring to let us walk to Circle K even though now I realize you must have been a nervous wreck
Every Valentines getting us chocolates and flowers delivered to my school
I remember when you taught us to shuffle cards under blanket tents on the floor
Letting us rent sing a longs and buying us baby food
Taking us to fun parks all over Salt Lake
You always packed fun sack lunches for field trips
Going to the movies and always being able to get a treat
Introducing me to Sushi - YUM
Always trying to make sure you have what we love when we visit you
Our girls trips down south and family trips to Bear Lake
How you made us feel so special on our birthdays
Basketball out on the driveway on summer nights
Sitting on the porch swing not even having to talk - just be
I love how you don't like to be crafty, but then you surprise me and come up with some amazing craft
I love how you pull your cell phone out of your back pocket and stop and plant your left foot forward.
Walleyball and AF Recreation
You taught me to love mowing the lawn, appreciate flower, and vacuum lines
Letting us always choose what we thought was cool
Teaching us that their are consequences for our actions
I loved when you would play in the snow with us or in the summer get a blanket out on the lawn and play with us
Going to the pharmacy in the middle of the night because I was allergic to my medicine
I love that you called tampons firecrackers ha ha ha
Trying to drive so careful after my surgeries
How you would spend money when you would get mad
Going to Hollywood Video was so fun for some reason
Teaching us to leave anywhere you go better than it was when you got there
You taught us how to be respectful and non judgmental
You always put us first
Whenever I don't know what to do - I always think what would my mom do
I love to grocery shop with you
I loved our cherry trees and walking in our neighborhood and smelling the grape vines
I love how you love Disneyland and go so often. I love it too!
You are such a great, fun, hands on, special Grandma. Avrie loves you and talks about you daily!
I loved to run errands and go to stores with you. I still do.
We never went without EVER and always had the best toilet paper and paper towels
You always made holidays so much fun.
I love the nuts on the coffee table at Christmas time
You send Avrie the cutest packages
We learned how to jump start a car in the middle of the night together
Fun haircut times
You always told us to call Dad and thank him after we went school shopping and other things
You have always been there and had the best advice when I am down or up or anytime
I love your tiny feet
Thanks for all of the times you surprised us with groceries

I just hope to be half the mom you are to me!

Notice the Y on Avrie's cheek. She is a huge BYU fan and had to have a Y painted on her cheek (not a pretty butterfly or sparkly fairy eyes but a Y - for her DAD!

We went to Gardener Village to see the funny witches they had for Halloween. Aunt Nicki was nice to take a few - ok probably around 100 pictures. We had a lot of fun! Thanks again Nick.

Both Kevin and I can't believe how old Avrie is getting. She is so smart, sensitive, and not shy whatsoever! We hope she knows how special she is to us. Now lets just hope she can get over her dreams of wanting to be a truck driver when she grows up. She amazes us everyday!

Do to Kevin getting the Swine Flu, and great inlaws to take Avrie for the night, I have a moment to myself tonight so I will catch everyone up on what we have been up to.

First off Swine Flu is not fun at all! Kevin is miserable and thought he might just be getting over it, but I just checked his temperature and it's over 100 degrees again so he is still contagious. I feel like an overworked single parent. He does so much to help out and I am ready for him to be normal Kev again. Right now I here him in the back room coughing his lungs out.

Kevin was his normal self Monday at 12:00 - checking his fantasy team and doing all the sports stuff he loves to do. He said he started to not feel very well and the insensitive wife I can be ignored him. Shelby came over and I told her Kevin was starting to get sick (for everyone who doesn't know Kevin - he is a germaphobe BAD so he has done everything to the extreme to avoid getting our family sick with the flu) he said the only thing that was going to get him through what he thought was just a cold was the Jazz game of course. Kevin came walking out in his garments and didn't care that Shelby saw. She said he must be sick he doesn't even like it when I walk around in a tank top. Ha ha. Around half time I walked in to check on Kevin and he looked like a tomato. He was bright red. He said it was hard for him to breath and I felt his forehead and it was on fire! I told Shelby I was running to WalMart to get a thermometor because Kevin was on fire - Avrie started screaming and crying because she thought I meant he was really on fire. I came back and checked his temp and it was 102 degrees. Right when I told him that he said I need to call my mom. Ha ha . We took him straight to the ER. Shelby was so sweet to take Avrie for the night and what has now lasted multiple nights. Avrie isn't minding at all, but she was so scared the first night. I took his temperature again on the way and it was just barely under 104 degrees. We got there and checked in. They took his pulse which was 250 twice of what it should have been. They double checked it because they thought it read wrong, but the next machine read the same. Kevin's eyeballs were bright red and he was acting crazy. He had to lay down because he was dizzy and thought he might throw up. The doctor confirmed it was swine flu and sent us home with lots of meds and said to stay in a room for approx. 7 days. We are now on day 3.... I miss him:( He is going nuts! Luckily for the playstation - thanks Taylor, movies, meds and yummy meals he is getting through it. So everyone wash your hands and don't volunteer at the halloween party at the elementary. Ha ha thats where we are guessing he got it.

Thanks everyone who has taken Avrie so she doesn't get it! I have the best family in the world!

It's been a while....

I am just going to give you a quick update on the last 5 months. Here we go:

We are in the process of buying a house in Ephraim. We love it. My mom is so so sweet and came and bought us groceries. Thank you so much! You have no idea how bad we needed them!

We went to a Jazz game and I had them all do the sad face to get my Father in Law to a game.

Avrie had a dance compeition in Provo. She did so good. Thanks everyone for coming!

We added a cat to the family. Ask me if I am excited - NO but Avrie wanted it for her 5 year old birthday. I am such a sucker. We also got 3 frogs. We are down to one!

Sorry I haven't posted in the last little bit. Life has been a bit crazy! My camera connections still don't work so sorry for not posting any pictures.

Avrie's Valentine Party: Avrie's preschool had a valentine party this morning. She was so excited. Me being the crazy busy forgetful Mom didn't realize it was so soon until my Mom reminded me that Valentine's was this week. So last night at about 10:30 I went to Wal Mart. Avrie tried to stay up, but was sound asleep with Kevin on the recliner. So I put 16 cute little Tinker Bell valentines together with little pencils and made her a valentines box. She woke up the next morning FURIOUS. Who is going to want pencils mom. That's all we do at school is use pencils. We are kids and we need candy. Whoops! She went to school so mad! When she got home she realized it was ok and was just so excited that Brock was there. Ha ha he is this cute little kid and she loved what he gave her. A heart sucker. She said she loved it with all of her heart. She loves Valentines now.... pencils and all.
Nate and Rhonda's Jazz Party: Nate and Rhonda were so nice to invite us to dinner and another crazy Jazz game. It is never a dull moment at these events. Kevin, Vern, Me, Rhonda, Avrie and Payton (unless his Dad mentions Kobe's name) are big Jazz fans and poor Nate the Laker fan. Brent was there to but I am not exactly sure who he was going for. It was such a fun game to watch. Rhonda is a great cook and had lots of good food for us. They are such great friends. Go Jazz!
Work is a lot busier these days: My amazing night managers quit. Britt got an awesome opportunity to coach at the University of Utah football team and everything just happened so fast and left me all alone with 288 crazy college kids. I miss Amanda so much. It's just not the same anymore and it never will be. I hope you guys the best, but you really just should come back. If you know me I am not an emotional person and I was a wreck. I still am a wreck. Amanda was my security blanket and I always knew I could ask her for advice and how to handle things and she always just new. Wherever you end up teaching I will give you the best recommend ever!
Kevin bought me some new furniture and decorations! I love them and I love him!
Shelby went to State Drill team. They did awesome. I can't believe she is a senior. She is an amazing dancer. We had an eventful experience up there. for lunch Ken and Linda had a gift certificate for Applebees (not my favorite), but I thought how bad can this be.... Ken and Linda always go to the exact same place when they come up north and always have so I was so excited to show them somewhere new. Well Kevin ordered a steak and potatoes dinner and can't eat until he has everything he orders well they forgot to bring out his potatoes and 20 minutes after they brought out his steak they finally brought his potatoes. They came in two piles - one was ice cold they seriously had ice on them and one pile was so hot it burnt his tongue. so he thought he would just mix them and be fine with it, but they stayed cold. He nicely asked for more and the manager offered cheese and bacon bits and everything else you put on potatoes. They brought them out about 20 more minutes later and because he can't eat his steak until all of his food is there it had gotten cold. Meanwhile we are all done eating and Kevin hasn't even started to eat. So he takes a bite of these amazing looking potatoes and in the first bight finds a spit wad. he never swears and he swore more in that dinner than I have ever heard him. So we get the manager back and he actually had the balls to explain it. He was trying to justify the paper in his food saying its just the paper we scrape the potatoes up from. So he is like I will get you a free desert and Kevin just asked if he could get a discount. He agreed and the waiter came back and said we have good and bad news. The good news is you got 50 percent off of your meal the bad news is we gave it to Vern. We were laughing so hard. My drink had dirt in it not a little it was disgusting. It looked like someone crapped in my cup. I still gag over it. I didn't say anything until everyone was done eating so they would still eat. Anyways nothing can just be normal with the Jensen's and Kevin ended up eating somewhere else. Needless to say we will never go there again.
We went to a jazz game and they let me take a picture with the guys that do the half time show. So I wrote on a paper jungle (my father in law's nickname) the Jazz miss you, come back to a game and told them to make a sad face. It turned out so funny. We blew it up and I gave it to him. He loved and now I think he will come with us. I will post a picture of it later.
A few cute things about Avrie right now so I can remember: I asked her if she knew what the chicken pox are and she said Mom do you think I'm an idiot? I didn't even know she knew that word and I am pretty sure she doesn't know what chicken pox are.
This is so embarrassing and I can't believe I am telling you this. So I sat down to get on the computer and said ouch. She asked me what was wrong and I tried explaining what a zit was and that I had one on my butt. HaHaHa. She laughed so hard. That was that and I was glad to have that conversation over. It wasn't she went to school and shared that her mom has a zit on her butt and has a hard time sitting. She told me she was so happy to make her teacher happy and it made her laugh so hard. I could have killed her! i will try to remember what I say around her
She has been on an estrogen outburst lately...drama queen to say the least. She always says don't talk to me, don't look at me, don't think about me. Just let me be I just need me time and don't ask why. I say don't act like a teenager and she says well does it look like I am going to stop. I hope this is just a phase. I miss my sweet little girl.
Avrie is in the CTR 5 primary class and came out and said its really good to be a VCR meaning CTR. She loves church.
Things she loves right now are: dance, grandmas and grandpas (ALL OF THEM - she is so lucky to have so many to spoil her), her aunts and uncles, McDonalds cheese burgers, crackers, head stands, SpongeBob, Icarly, her room, her blanket, catching snow on her tongue, hugs and snuggling, popcorn with movies, the computer - she loves the starfall website, her Buddy - Dad, getting her Mom a diet coke to keep her sane, jump ropes, lip gloss. She is so special. She is my hero. She is the perfect combination of the two of us. She has the biggest heart and is so sensitive and observant of everyone else's feelings - that is from her dad. She also is stubborn and KNOWS she can do anything without a doubt, she never gives up, a leader, so outgoing, she loves to meet new people - she gets these qualities from me. she is going to conquer the world. Oh yeah and she is the smartest 4 year old I know. She definitely gets that from me. Kevin would beg to differ. Ok she does get that from him. Avrie we love you and are so proud of you! My mom, sister Nicki and I went up to Park City last weekend. We had so much fun. I love this tradition. We wished Mandy could have came - next year! These first four pictures sum it all up. I really have no idea the last time I laughed so hard. I love spending time with my mom and sisters. They are my very best friends!! We didn't end up seeing anyone famous like other years because we went on the last Saturday, but it a blast anyways.

I know, I know.... I can't believe it either. It's your birthday again. I swear you were just 29 wearing your cowgirl shirt with tassles and boots with your big brown hair, wearing your exclamation perfume - ready for a night out dancing! Haha! Happy Birthday! You are truly the greatest Mom in the whole wide world. I look up to you so much. You are so beautiful, smart, and fun. I know it's cheesy, but I really hope to just be at least as half as good as a mom to Avrie as you were to me. Now stop playing on the computer and take yourself out to whatever you want! Do something that you love to do and haven't done in a while. Avrie said she will get her ears pierced for your birthday - hahaha. I can't wait to come up and celebrate at Sundance this weekend! I love you!

I have the cutest daughter ever. She takes such good care of me. If you didn't know I am a diabetic and when I get sick, I get sick. Two days ago Avrie got the 24 hour flu. She threw up all night long. She is so tough, she never complains. One time when she was throwing up she stopped right in the middle of it and remembered she had a present for me that her and her Grandma Linda had wrapped earlier. She had to go get it to give to me. She handed it to me and said hold on. She finished throwing up and said ok you can open it now. Ha ha it was a little book with primary songs. Anyways, I caught the flu from her. It hit really bad at about 2:00 when I was at work. I came home and laid down. That is when Kevin and Avrie set in. I didn't start throwing up until 6:00 and when I did Avrie brought in a table and made Kevin make me soup and brought me in a diet pepsi, a cold rag, my insulin and sugar tester, a book, my cell phone (she said if you need me to I will call 911), tweezers ha ha, and asked me if I needed a massage. A few hours later I was getting way worse and she came in and said how about a prayer. Part of her prayer consisted of - Heavenly Father please bless my Mom and Grandma Linda (who got the flu too) to get better, they are great women they shouldn't be sick. It was so cute. She also said if she gets better I promise I will take her to McDonalds. So cute. She got one of those syringes that you give infants medicine with and was feeding me water. She kept bringing me in different things and asking where I wanted them. When I felt half decent this morning I came out of my room and she had cleaned my house for me. I love her. I feel so much better now. It was really scary last night. At one point I threw up 16 times in one hour. I was on the phone with the nurses from the ER all night. Kevin was on the internet trying to figure out different ways to hydrate me. I have been in the hospital before for this, but we got through it. He was so proud of me. From yesterday morning to this morning I lost 17 pounds. Crazy! It will all be back tomorrow no worries. I am just praying for a cure for diabetes. For now I am so thankful for such a wonderful husband and daughter. They are the best!

One of our favorite things to do as a family is go to Disneyland. This was Avrie's third time. She absolutely loved it! She is getting so big. Kevin totally turns into a kid there. He always walks so fast because he is so excited and its hard to keep up with him. Disneyland is a tradition every year with Kevin's family, but this year my Mom and Joey came too! They were so cute. I have never seen Joey so happy.
